What do you feed your Ducks & Geese?

Just wondering what everyone feeds there Ducks & Geese, think it would be good information for new people and older ones like me :-D

hi jeff.
when i get new ducklings i start them strait away on pullet grower witch my birds go mad on and thay look for it first before any other feed also i give scratch mix that has cracked corn not whole corn in it. also i try and give them what grass there is around . and small pieces of bread . i think if you feed ducklings on pullet grower it gives them a good start and also puts good weight on them for showing . i have some breeders that i brought that were raised on just wheat and thay are real small my 12 week old ducklings are now taller than there parents . . once my birds are mature i feed them on layer pellets and scratch mix with a bit of bread when i can get it . also grass . i know other people will say different that you dont feed ducklings on scratch mix or pullet grower but my way suits me .

mine are fed 50% scratch mix 50%layer pellets and all the scraps from the kitchen/lunchboxes and greens from my local green groccer plus thet free range at our place an neighbours unused pool yard where the grass is about 2ft high :lol:

your place shore sounds like the place to be if your a duck . those 2 girls you rescued dont know how lucky thay are to end up there .

Geese are a bit different.

When the are pinnioning the best thing is capricorn goat mix. You do not want too much protein in their diet as it can cause rye/angle wing.

In general if geese are on good pasture a couple of handfuls of wheat at night will be fine. If poor pasture i supplement with organic rye bread, lucerne chaff, wheat and occasionally pellets.

In the height of the droungt last summer the geese were happilty consuming many kgs of tomatoes.

Ducks will eat most scraps given to them. I would like to be able to feed NU duck to the ducklings, if it was produced for a more reasnoble price. I feed them chick starter as well as wheat and all kitchen scrpas from about 2 weeks old.

You do not want 2 make a mussie too fat or he will not breed.

I feed my ducks, guinea fowl and laying chooks
a 5 grain mix
And everything the get out of the paddock as all my poultry are free range,
the 5 grain is as good as fattening pellots because it has the same protein.
