Sex Linked chicks

Hi to everyone this is my first post my question is about sex linked chooks I am at present crossing Isa brown hens with a light sussex rooster the resuling chicks grow to be beautiful pullets but I am wondering if I use a differant breed of rooster would the chicks be sex linked as to colour

You need a Gold based cock bred to a silver based hen

So you can use a RIR cock over a Light sussex hen ,this resulting in red pullets and white cockerels

i will quote from the Poultry Breeds and Management book by David scrivener.

Thanks for the repy now some more questions on the same topic
The Isa Brown which I like to keep as my foundation stock is bred by crossing Rode Island Red with Rode Island White the resulting pullets should be sex linked and are then crossed with a New Hampshire rooster giving sex linked Isa Brown (I think)
My cross of Isa Brown with Light Sussex result in all white chicks none of which is sex linked would I get sex linked chicks by useing a New Hampshire rooster back over the Isa Brown hens

No. Also Isa Browns are not a simple RIR X RIW, there are about 10 strains of various breeds used to produce the breeder birds for the final hybrid.
Isa Brown X Light Sussex result in all white chicks because the ISAs are Dominant White.

Yep Rockys right and if you cross the f1s you will get Colmbian birds

Now we are getting in to it
F1 is what I want to breed from they are apparently dominant white but may be recesive for brown/red I am thinking of breeding them back to a New Hampshire if I can find one locally
It took Mendellsen a life time with breeding peas so I will just have to try differant roosters to see what I get

Have you tried the Chicken Genetics calculator? its and online tool that is very useful
