Aggressive drake

I hope someone can assist
I have 3 muscovies 1 drake and 2 ducks which I have had for about 2 years. Over the last 3 months the drake has become quite aggressive with me and the kids. It first started with him approaching with his head down almost on the ground and his bill open like he's panting. But now it’s escalated now into a hissing noise and actual contact with little nips at the feet. I have stopped the kids from going in the duck pen as I don't want him to give them a fright that might last years. I have talked about getting rid of him but the kids won't even consider it, they get quite upset if I mention it. They also are upset that they can't go in a feed the ducks anymore so I am stuck and need some help. Is there any way of deterring him from nipping at us?

not sure if it will work but with roosters if you grab them and hold them agaisnt there will and put them on their back they learn they cant do what they want try that and let us no how it goes

was your drake handraised ? , away from other ducklings ,? as it sounds like he may have been, ? handraised drakes do become aggressive with people as they mature, [ he thinks you are another drake ] i have not heard of anyone overcoming this, as the aggression is something he will keep doing, i would get a new drake , one that was raised with other ducklings , you will find then you will not have any worries if you do that, as drakes raised with other ducklings are not aggressive at all , and you kids will be back feeding and enjoying them once again,

Thank you stuart & jase I will try your idea stuart and if that doesn't work I'll go with jase plan 2. I can't have him biting the kids

I no what your thinking with my idea its a little bit crazy but it has worked for me

Your right I did have to read to twice but I have started today and I have picked him up twice the third time I went in he ran the other way, figures crossed.

Yes I found that out a while ago hand raising quackers is not a good idea as jase said I make sure they still have some fear factor

I have found out he was hand raised so If pivking him up doesn't work then I will ahve to find a new one not hand raised.

Don't worry its common a lot of people do it to make them friendly but most become to friendly

hi walloon ,
your right its better to not have them to friendly,

handraising them is a bad idea ,

drakes raised with other ducklings turn out good birds,
drakes raised alone can turn out savage,
