old fashioned remedies

Hi, I'm making a website about my chooks and have decided to include a section about herbs and old fashioned remedies. So far i've got apple cidar vinegar for coccy prevention, charcoal for poisoning and milk to fatten up birds. In the category of herbs I've got wormwood to help prevent worms.lf anyone would like to share their old secrets, please do [smilie=a_cookiemonster.gif]

Thanks nevit, yeah Prince is a handsome boy now and Lacy is beautiful. She's sitting on her first batch of eggs now.

not really - it is well known that Garlic helps stop fleas and to some extent mites and flies - the Egyptians used to eat the stuff by the handful apparently :shock:

chook dosage is 1/2 clove 2 times a week - straight down the throat if you can
you have to be VERY careful when putting it in water = it goes off quickly = you have to scrub out water containers each day or at least every 2nd day before adding the next lot

also - Marjoram [ the HERB not the table spread] dosage 1 pinch per day per bird fed in a small amount of mash helps keep flies away - flies hate the pungent sweet odour - it has been known to help keep ticks away in summer too

I've used garlic for years now and it does work and work well I think. I had problems for year with stick fleas until I used garlic

I tried it but can't say it was all that affective so I stick with Ivomectin
