Geodesic Chicken Coop

This is our new chicken coop almost finished. It was remarkably fast to put up and is 30sq mt. We still need to attach the short arcs and cover it in net. Does anyone have any suggestions for a shelter inside it?

I've seen something like that at a place near us & thought what a great idea. They have the netting & then what looks like a tarp over the centre. Can you give more info on how to make & mabe some more pics please. Great idea

Anchor it to the ground.

Friends of ours made one back in about June, covered it in tarp and had to retrieve it from a couple of hundred metres away a few days later.

He's a high school Math (not Science) teacher. He had no problems calculating the length of the poles and getting the shape right, but had no concept of wind and momentum.

we found that their measurements didnt work. My husband is a maths teacher (must be a maths teacher project) and we just "eyeballed it" and got the positions of the arcs right. when we followed the directions on the site the whole thing listed to one side pretty dramatically. we are going to cover it in netting and put a shelter in there for the chickens. i am thinking of trying to get an old desk or wardrobe to use. I think it will cause less problems in the wind that way. we will get some large tent pegs to hold it down.
we used 20mm PVC pressure pipe and the whole thing will cost about $200.

This is where we have got up to so far. We have nest boxes put together and need to come up with a shelter. It also needs the net secured to the base.

The poultry auction is on sunday so im hoping to finish it today or saturday.

Looks like something out of a sci fi movie Cheryl, how do you get in and out, can't seem to spot a entrance except the opening on top, be a big jump hehehe.

lol- we have wings. its not really an opening on the top- you just cant see the mesh well. we have left a bit of a tent flap type opening at the bottom and will just hold it shut with pegs. if thats not secure enough we will come up with some other sort of clip.

When we were building it the neighbours were comign around to see what we are doing- they are 1km or so away. It stands about 2.5mt high- probably didnt need to be that tall.

Is that just bird netting like the stuff used for covering fruit trees etc :-?

If so than I would be worrried about fox attacks.They would find that stuff soooo easy to get through.
