Any advice i would be greatly appreciated

I got a new pair of white peafowl yesterday, I was very excited and also upset. I noticed one of them has dirty bottom. Today I know it is diarrhoea. I send a sample of poo to vet laboratory today and they found eggs. Also today my birds didn’t eat at all, maybe they are not even drinking. I keep my birds in a shed, because it is too cold outside. I look for BIG-L in Geelong but not successful. What else I can give them ????
Any advice i would be greatly appreciated. :cry:

Hi Tash, This is just a long shot but I sometimes give condes crystals in the water only till turns pink, also heard some say a clove of garlic in the water. Also talk to your local produce store as they have different worming stuff for poultry.
I have Big L here but your to far away, I have also heard that to help the trots, try them on some boiled rice.

I hope someone more knowledgable answers you soon.

Thank you Deb . I’ll try everything. I check birds this morning, whey still Ok. Also they have eaten bread with sultanas last evening. I think this is good sign I am going to see couple of stores right now.

Hi Tash,

That has to be a good sign if they ate something, I really do hope they will be ok. Can you contact the breeder for advice, maybe they can help.

I doubt condes or garlic would hurt them as condes is also used in water as some kind of conditioner in iffy water.

Deb I think I found what kind of problem i 've got it . COCCIDIOSIS. :cry:

I contact the breeder for advice. He said his all birds are OK. I didn’t asked money back I try to save the birds but unfortunately he didn’t help me. :evil:

I have been visiting vet again and finally we made decision this is COCCIDIOSIS, because birds has diarrhoea and occasionally blood in the droppings. I still wait for medications from Melbourne.

Thank everyone who supports me. It was7 day of stress for me I never had deal with sick birds in my life. But we made it, we survive. :!:

They are getting better day by day. I am very happy. :-D

I would like to mention that Tash worked harder than anyone to get these peacocks back from the brink of death and she has shown two things.... that some sellers are totally irresponsible and that with hard work and dedication you can overcome the odds. I wish her all the luck in the world with her peacocks and thanks Jan for putting up with me being stressed on Sat night and going to all that trouble, and Deb for encouragement. It isn't luck that got them through, it is Tash's hard work and attention to detail. Good on you Tash! Pam

Yes Pam, Tash has done a great job, it shows that she loves these peas very much.

This morning my cheeky peas escaped :shock:

all day they were laying around the backyard then around 4 pm they went walking, so I went looking for them and I discovered my alpaca finally had her wee baby

Hoping to find them in the morning, but when I whistled they come running.
