Bird watering via nipples and tall tube feeder

Yes I have 2 of those in my coop and they work so well I am going to buy more. Mine are attached to a drum also

is it safe to run a system off mains pressure or should it be just off a small drum?

If the drinkers are run at high pressure they might blow out of the attachment as the screw in method is not very strong. The water will also come out too forcefully when the birds try to drink from it.
I use an old toilet cistern as a water supply which provides a constant source of low pressure water. If you want to permanently connect to mains pressure it is necessary to install a pressure reducing device in the line.

This maybe the dumbest question going but I will ask, can these nipples be use for muscovy ducks?

I think it's a perfectly reasonable question moks.
Assuming Muscovies are similar to mallard derived ducks they would be able to use the nipples as their only water source but will probably be healthier, happier and cleaner if they can dunk their heads in water.
It is generally accepted that ducks dunk their heads in water to clean their eyes and nostrils and to use the water to preen themselves.
Drinker nipples could be useful as a backup in case the main supply runs out or to provide water in the night quarters to keep them a bit drier.
Just as an aside for anyone who likes to make their own equipment one of those toilet cisterns like I use to supply my chook drinkers also makes a good self filling duck drinker if you cut a hole in the cover and is of course easily flushed out to clean it.

I like this idea for ducks if it was a supplement to their large bathing water that way they can always have fresh CLEAN water
