Do I need to cut the flight feathers?

Yes, we clipped them 3 weeks ago now. It all went ok except Paul lost a few tail feathers when he made a break for it and I instinctively grabbed his tail :oops:

All seems to be ok now, he still flies down from his perch when we bring food in. My wife wants to wait another few weeks when she finishes work for the year before we let them out.

We let Paul and Rosie out for the first time today. All went well with both birds wary for a while before happily wandering around the place feeding on anything they could find.

Our only worry is that they have decided to roost for their first night out in our neighbours property instead of ours. Hopefully they will choose another tree soon as this is the neighbour whose dogs killed our last peacock.

I don't suppose there is a product or scent available that we can spread along that particular boundary to try and keep them on our side?

I doubt there would be a product like that but it would be good

with them I hope all goes well

Night 3 and so far, so good. Both birds seem happy and have roosted in different trees each night so far, we assume they are trying to find the spot which suits them best. Its been a bit stressful , but we're hoping they continue to stick around.

Its been a stressful night and day.

Rosie really couldn't care less about Paul and seems to please herself roaming and roosting when and where she feels like it.
Last night they roosted in separate trees and we were woken every 30 minutes by Paul calling out to Rosie. Our neighbour said at 3am, it sounded like Paul was in his yard and he lives 500 meters away!

Today I received a call about 3.30pm from another neighbour who also lives about 500 meters away in the opposite direction. Paul was happily wandering around in his front yard, no sign of Rosie once again. I was able to herd Paul back to our place quite easily, where he spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out with the chooks.

Around dusk, Paul kept going in and out of the chook pen while they were starting to get settled in for the night, so we herded the ducks in and left Paul in with his new friends.

Hopefully it will be a peaceful night.

Rosie roosted in the neighbours property quite close to our boundary.

If you can lock the hen back up that will teach the peacock to stay close for the next 2 or 3 months them let her out again in say end march and she may stay at home. Just remember that they may never pair as happens allot just because they are hen and cockbird does not mean love!
