dont be too quick to knock the imported chicks

The web site with pictures should have been set up long before the eggs left the UK imo and the split up of chick is a concern to me also, the good hatchers have to supply the bad hatchers and that mean less all round and the culling is a shame as it can't handle the number of chicks and whats culled? lets hope not all the hens [smilie=a_holycrap.gif]

Yes I do Fowlman & I was not saying I didn't see that difference & no I wasn't overlooking the fact that I can buy locally anytime I want. :-D

What I was saying/asking is that i could not see the difference in risk when buying a product off an unknown entity. I understand that your saying we need good quality bloodline if this is our last chance of getting anymore into the country for a long time to come, so I see and understand all your points, which are all valid ones. You're the one who is not getting mine. Which is pointed toward risk.

Whether its import or locals, when you purchase from an unknown source you are taking on risk. And like I asked, how is that any difference (in risk) than what is being done by individuals on a daily basis in this country. Albeit cost might be larger, ability to get access is lesser, since its few and far between imports (which is why I understand you want this to be done right, and not get overseas castoffs), but as far as I'm concerned i don't see how buying a product off someone sight unseen is any different than what people do on a daily basis now.

Are you buying some? Are you taking on the risk of purchasing a parcel sight unseen?

How are they sexing the breeds that cannot be sexed at birth? if they are culling surely that would have to know the sex or are they guessing?

When I first started reading all this stuff on the Internet about syndicates & 1/4 & 1/2 shares of parcels etc... I thought it must have been some huge scam that was going on as I couldn't see, find out where or understand who was selling these rare imported breeds. I'm not a risk taker so i would never buy into this sort of thing without knowing with 100% surety of what I was getting.

But I know people jump into that sort of stuff all the time on blind faith and take on these massive risks, sometimes no questions asked, and come out empty handed all the time. Scams are rife in this country, why wouldn't there be one targeting the chook lovers of this country.

Yes your right there are scams around but not the import or the 1/4 & 1/2 shares of parcels they are very legitimate and up front and great for many that can't afford a full parcel

Based on "risk" and just "risk" of eggs being infertile or not hatching then yes both have risk but there is far more to the imports than just risk in these 2 areas.
