I did just take a good look and your right the second one does have white in the stomach good call there you know your stuff. I would like to get a silver hen if I can as I can then pair her to my cinnamon which will breed me both won't it

Yes the large wattles are only on males.

Daza your results are as expected with guinea fowl the lavender gene is expressed over the cinnamon gene in phenotype add to your pairing the incomplete dominant and you see pied. Its likely both are pieds if you look closely especially on the belly area down between the legs.

Some of the poor marked pieds only have a few feathers and yes down on the stomach area usually or on the sides under the wing area

Yes if you can buy a hen silver then paired to your cinnamon you will get around 50/50 of both cinnamon and silver all red eyes of course. Some of the silver may be a little wish washy though but when you breed more silvers you can breed them together to clean the colour for a true rich silver happy_duck

I can sell you a silver hen but not until the end of january as she's still sitting. She is about 4 years old and one of 12 sisters in a very large family group I have. Let me know

I used to breed budgerigars and my interest was piqued by the pictures of red eyed birds accompanying the assertion that all red eyed birds are sex linked.
That certainly not the case with budgerigars where the ino (albino / lutino) gene and cinnamon are sex linked (in cinnamon the eye starts out red and darkens with age).
The fallow mutations in budgerigars are red eyed due to simple autosomal recessive genes. The German fallow mutation results in darker eyes which are often referred to as "plum" or "ruby" whereas the English fallow mutation results in a lighter red eye.
The second budgerigar in the picture is clearly not an ino.
I have no knowledge of guinea fowl genetics and accept that their colour genetics may be totally different to budgerigars.
Is there any good beginner reference to guinea fowl colour genetics?

Sorry but yes it is doggo 100% lutINO. The reference was to show RED EYE not the genetics. The first picture is not a budgie by the way

Yes they are different in many respect and similar in others and I am still learning much but I have the best teachers here on the forum.

Only on this forum for australia and no point looking on the foreign sites. There is tons and tons of info on genetics here just look through the topics as there is too many to list
