JN8-48 incubator

Well this is where I am at with my JN8-48 incubator . I purchased the parts I needed for my old Multiquip E2 today new fan motor and a digital controller . My JN8-48 now sits aloft my bomb fire heap must remember to drop a match in it tomorrow .

I'd think it is safe to assume, but its only my orps that lay small eggs so its only a guess.

I do get your frustration having blowing 6 dozen eggs and 7 weeks before the final batch hatched after 10 weeks in totally - not the most reliable way to hatch chicks.

Ok given this thing a reprieve FOR NOW . I started it back up on the settings that I lost my last lot of eggs on 37.6c temp and the digital thermometor at egg level reads 37.5c all good . BUT this morning was given 2 Bellsouth Technitherm Thermometers I put them in at egg level and they read 39.0c both of them .I then turned the incubator back to 36.9c Stancorps setting and got around 37.75c on the bellsouth thermometers at egg level . Now the chicks that did not hatch all of them did not enter the air cell and had not absorbed the yolk but looked fine structurally .I am still thinking to much heat all the way through incubation when they started producing heat in the last few days they have cooked .I know the digital temp on the incubator is not reading right but they never do so I have been going by the the digital thermometer I purchased and I think it has been a dodgey one all along .What do you think :?:

I think the 36.9 (JN8-48 reading) is the correct temp, but this incubator doesn't regulate temp well. Keep the incubator closed as much as possible (ie only open for water and keep egg checking to a minimum) and in a room with a stable ambient temp.

I also put the incubator on a UPS (cost about $120) to negate power issues.

I'm going to have another go next week an well see how it goes. Second time round.

Gonna give mine another go in around three weeks. Let's hope the last hatch (88%) wasn't a fluke and I have finally figured this sucker out.

Is this the Janoel 48 egg incubator with automatic turning that we are talking about? I don't know if it's any help to you all but someone on ebay is selling a better(their claim) 16 page version of the instructions in English. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Re-Written-I ... 3a6c073074

Has anyone got a copy of this book? I would be great to get some tips

This book was being advertised on ebay a couple of weeks ago it made I think over $100 dollars . I think people thought thay were getting an incubator aswell .

Yeah I saw that book too. As frustrating as the instructions are it's the reliability of the default settings that seem to be giving people the trouble. Once they're right it should be plain sailing. :-?
