Hi all,

I was wandering what was the badest bedding that i don`t wount to use for my ducks bedding

Are you talking about inside nest boxes or on the floor of their enclosure?

How often would you be cleaning it out, or replacing the bedding as a whole? Any bedding not replaced regularly might go mouldy and therefore increase the chance of aspergillosis.

Sand is pretty good flooring for a duck shed. If you have water in their shed which I imagine they'd spill everywhere (if they're anything like mine) then sand offers good absorbancy. Also their poo is easy to scoop up - especially if you use a pooper scooper, (give it a shake and the poo stays on top and the sand falls through). We found sand pretty cheap to buy. We put crusher dust down as a base and river sand on top and it has made life SO much easier.

when you say the pooper scooper do they ues that for cat litter to pick up the caat poop and let the kitty litter foul to they to
they kitty litter tray is that the same thing of what you mean.

Hi Wizz, yes the same thing you use for kitty litter. Some have different sized holes, I think the slighter bigger holes make the job a bit easier. You could use tongs but personally I end up scooping too much sand at the same time.

But thats just what works well for me, I'm sure you'll get some really good ideas from others

I would agree with sand, what I did was make a sand pit design with 15 cm of sand so it would be easy to change as it fouled up, you can also sift the sand it you have the time to remove the poo and old scraps

Mine don't get too bad and I just give them a light rake over every week

Yes good old sand, can't beat it, my gran said I ate tones of it as a kid and it possibly had some chook poo mixed up in it :shock:
