Wire cages

Hi Everyone

Does anyone know where I might be able to buy some wire cages - I saw some the other day that were two story and on wheels. The lady told me she purchased them from ebay but I cannot see them on there.

I am wanting them for putting any sick birds that need time to recoup or for quarantining newbies.

Any ideas

have you tried pet stores? i know they sell movable cages that are raised of the ground for guinea pigs, cats, dogs etc ..

big bird cages can be used short term too, or you can get a pack of 4 wire sides from bunngings, they make up a decent sized area for small chooks. i used it to house my silkies to begin with, i put a nesting box in there and covered it with tarp. now it's in my laundry with a broody chook in it

the packs are around $26 .

I have tried pet stores but they just sell the single story ones - this one I saw was two story and had hinged doors on the front and I just thought it would be perfect as you get two cages for the floor space of one. I'll have a look at the wire packs in Bunnings - more cost effective but I was hoping to get away without building anything.

the wire things are so easy you'll have no issue putting them together, they come with their own coil clippy things that hold the sides together then you just use tent pegs to secure into the ground :-D

Thanks Spanky but I managed to find what I was looking for in the end they call them mice/ferret cages that they can put an optional shelf into so that it makes two cages. They come on wheels so i can wheel undercover when its wet and they are fully secure from predators. I want them for any sick chooks that need treatment so I need them undercover/dry and off the grass in case they have something contagious. Thanks for the offer of the photo. I have a bid on one today so fingers crossed I get it for a good price.

I use dog wore cages for my isolation cages. Easy to clean and quite big for the chooks fits my light sussex rooster in it comfortably. I also use the tarp bbq covers with the front cut along the seam and folded back to cover them from the wet weather if necessary. The flap can also be folded back down of really nasty weather.
