small ducks

Is there a breed of small or miniature ducks if so is there any in australia. And does anybody have any pics of them they can put on here please.

i have had a look and found that call ducks are small but is there any in australia

Hi Chook kid,

There are plenty of call ducks in Australia. They may not necessarily look like ones you see from overseas though.

I have some bantam ducks but they aren't purebred call ducks so you probably won't want to see photos of those!

Is there something in particular you are after?

I no that mallards come in bantam and black east indies are bantams there are a few others also

Calls are one of the best and most popular bantams in oz. You can pick them up quite easily and cheap.

Cheap? that depends on your definition of cheap....and the quality of the calls......they do look a bit different to the overseas calls, that is because they have been bred down from mallards.
Calls are small but are actually noisier than some other breeds of ducks , hence their original use ( as decoys) and their name, cheers pam

$30 or $40 dollars is cheap to me! Doesn't really matter what they have overseas we have what we have, I think they are great little duck.

Yes 30ish bucks is reasonable to me too but a show quality call can be 70-100 ,depending on the line and quality, I actually saw a pair go for 260 bucks at auction earlier this year( stunning drake), at the same auction others were 35-90 each....yes good ducks, I have calls myself, lots of people do not realise how noisy they are till they get them so thought I would mention it, cheers pam

Your right they can be noisy little guys especially when it come to mating time, its good you mentioned that. I have heard of them going for high prices and I have infact sold them for as much as $120 a pair but normally around $30 to $40
