Question on Muscovy

Can I ask a question on muscovy's please

I have just got 2 pairs of muscovy ducks and the females are allot smaller than the males now the seller said that is normal but I did question the age of the females and she said they are all the same age but the females are about a 1/3 smaller than the males so my question is that normal for female muscovy's to be allot smaller than the males

Ducks are always smaller than drakes so its normal especially with muscovy it can be very noticeable

some of our females have been nearly half the size of the drakes... we have now upgraded to bigger girls, but the drakes are always bigger and heavier.

If you think they are too small, they may be too young... I find it easiest to identify how old they are by how much carbuncle (red 'brains') there is growing on the face.

A young female's (not yet egg laying) will not yet have reached her eyes. If it has started, or is around the eyes, they are old enough to breed.

Thanks you all, I do feel the females are younger despite what the breeder told me so I will watch them closely to make sure the males are nice to them

Is that the same with the mammoth muscovy or do the duck grow to the same size as the drakes?

Some of the muscovy ducks {females} can be very small and having large drakes is allot for a small duck to handle
