yer chicka its a pretty fullon time atm, i am dealing with eggs and chickens, setting up brooders, fixing up some old pens that badly need repair and currently I am making a new custon hatching box that will fit in the sportsman bator for when hatching different eggs that the chicks must be kept seperate ie different breeds or bloodlines and different customers chickens (imagine trying to explain a RIR in a bunch of barnevelders or other)

at full power heating it uses 275W of power

when not heating and only running the fan it drops considerably to 23W

once my bator is up to temp it spends half its time only consuming 23W

i am not smart enuff to work out the precise numbers but IF it consumed 275W continuously every hr every day for a year it would only use $554.26 per year, based on 23c/KWhr.

The heating elements would be on and off many times throughout the day and especially at night so best work on 50% maximum power use and 50% at minimum power use, based on 30 days use only

No offence, but how would they be able to do that when everyone pays different charges per kilowatt per hour depending on the electricity provider they're with. :?:

Plus I reckon if they did do that, no one would ever buy their product. Especially with the escalating costs of electricity. It would frighten the bejesus out of most people if they knew how much their appliance cost them each year.

As a consumer you need to make that calculation and decide for yourself based on the kilowatts an appliance outputs.

The manufacturers of electrical goods have done their job by already telling consumers how many kilowatts the product uses.

Red you've done your research & done it on a worst case scenario which is by far the smartest thing anyone can do [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]

Its more they can provide the power usage not cost that you can work out easy enough

NO incubator is over expensive to run as they never run 365 days :lol:

They do, that's what kilowatts are. [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]

Hence, that is why Red can work out his cost based on how much his electricity provider charges him/ kilowatt, based on a worst case scenario.

So if you do what Red did, and do a worst case scenario, you really can't go wrong.

Then if you do want to work out a cost per 30 days then you just divide the yearly cost by 365 & times it by 30. Simple :-D
