I've found 12 hours is enough.

Thanks B&P. I receives 24 eggs today and 7 of them were completely destroyed by Australia post.
I will now let them rest before placing them in the inlaws incubator on Saturday morning.
I hope I get a good hatch rate.

It is part of the woes of anyone selling and posting eggs that the buyers either forget or don't )because they know better) rest the eggs after their journey.

I have posted eggs to almost every state from Sydney and the hatch rates vary but so does how they are handled each time by Aust post as well as diff incubators and buiyers actually listening to you or not if they are new to incubation.

Best I have had is 12 from 12 to Brisbane and the worst was 3 from 12 to WA,however part of the issue was the buyer/s actually allowing the eggs to rest.

I've also sent others to WA and had a massive 10 from 12 hatch......but 2 broke on the way over, still thats 100% hatch from what was incubated.

said well - but I find it is often the long time breeders that dont listen [ I know better attitude ] most newbies are sponges and swing 2 ways = they either just put them straight in the incubator in excitement remembering later :shock:

or they follow the instructions religiously

my best hatch was 35 of 36 that went to WA - hang on - - - - WA - - - - maybe there is something to sending eggs over there?

I must be so unlucky as twice I have gotten 1 dozen fertile eggs and 0 have hatched and yes I have let them rest and yes the incubator was working perfectly as I hatched my own eggs of another breed in it

That is unlucky. Were they from the same source? Maybe they have a dud rooster. :oops:

The number of times I have been asked to post eggs is too numerous to mention and in every case the answer is no. Posting eggs is in many ways a gamble for both the seller and the buyer and with the internet now to gripe about problems with eggs that have nothing to do with the seller and tarnish a breeders name its just not worth it for me. I do sell eggs locally but not via the post they are not treated like eggs. Just my opinion for what its worth

Hi Harry,

I know that posting eggs is gamble. And I do not blame the breeder at all and I haven't. I hope that you did not misread any of my post and take it as though I am having a go at the person I purchased my eggs from. I am extremely happy with the breeder and the way that he packed them etc.

I was just generalizing on posting eggs not any one case in particular, sorry Terry if my post was a little vague it can be hard for me to put into type what I am trying to say in words. No offence was intended

Its good to read their are people out there like yourself that do understand the highs and lows of sending and receiving eggs in the post
