Power out

I need some advice on what to do. I have 18 sikly eggs in my incubator and last night we lost the power for about 5 hours, not happy. I didn't open the incubator and I covered it up with a blanket. The eggs have been in the incubator for 13 days, should I do anything? Do you think they will still be ok?

leave them alone and see what happens - a number of us here have had this happen and still had a few hatch - you would be suprised how hardy these little ones can be sometimes

Totally agree , Ive had lots of blackouts some for similar periods of time with surprizingly good results , There have been a few threads on this topic before , if you do a search , Good luck and let us know what happens . I think the most critical days are right at the end .

have to agree but will add =
at OUR place
a black out in the first 2-4 days means very little it just means the hatch date is changed by 1/2 to 1 day
an outage days 10-12 can slow them as well - but temps need to be maintained for the last 4 days =
we bought a generator and do the 'mad dash to start it and plug the incubator in'
our big incubator holds 1500-1800 eggs so - yeah - a generator seemed a good purchase
we got one that has 2 power sockets and we can plug in the 2 smaller incubators and our water pump as well
max power out time is about 2 minutes now

Thank you maybe a need to invest in a small generator I have looked at the a couple of time at least that way it will save the stress. I really hope the eggs are still ok but I will just have to wait and see

I got a gmc 650kvh from bunnings about a year ago and I have used it once but it did save my eggs as we lost the power for 11 hours and the eggs were at day 18. I would recommend a small generator if you can get one

I have been toying with the idea of a generator but I work night shift and would need to have it set up to come on automatically is this possible with those smaller generators???
