Hi Buffy wave.gif

Sorry to hear about Caramels dilemma.

I tend to agree with macl27. She doesn't have anything protruding so no prolapse there at all, as a prolapse is when some thing falls in the opposite direction that it should normally be. So the fact that no innards are hanging outwards means there isnt a prolapse.

On the other hand she has a rather large distended abdomen which could mean she is egg bound or have some sort of tumor growing inside of her. Add in the fact that her pooey bottom is oozing an unsavory looking coloured discharge could mean she has something inside her that is forcing her poo to come out, and her muscles are prbably not strong enough to do the usual pulsing which they do to control her pooing properly.

My neighbor who is an Ag teacher uses Olive oil if she doesn't have a proper lubricant available, as it is a natural product and will not agrivate a wound the way Vasaline will. The thing about Vasaline is that it use to be called Petroleum Jelly, but bad press made manufacturers change its name to something less controversial. Vasaline (Petrolium Jelly) is a bottom base grade Petrolium (like the petrol you put in your car) product that should not be used internally at all. In fact it has been banned in several countries in the world as it has been linked to kidney cancer.

So if you care for your girl (and I know you do, as you are seeking help from others to help her) then you will not place Vasaline into her internal parts. th_Noooo.gif

Cheers

yeah.. true.. I cleaned her bum, and underneath isn't much.. I would say It's almost normal..

also Petite Poulet... I should've said this in your topic thing 'fox attacks':
if you have te run surrounded by wire you don't pull it tight, you make sure it is loose, they don't like climbing loose chook wire..

also are chooks able to live a happy life on concrete?

Hey Buffy

If an animal is bought up in a certain surround then it will know no difference, but the instinct to scratch will still be there, because that's just part of what they do.

But really, what chook would be truly happy living on concrete, when their natural instinct is to dig for grubs and buried treasures in the ground and have dust baths in the dirt!

I don't think any animal would like to live on concrete. We don't! We like to feel the grass beneath our feet & the sand between our toes, so why commit an animal that relies on us for its survival to that type of life. :?:

Cheers

Hi, Buffy wave.gif ,

After all that drama, I was relived that Caramel's condition was not terminal. In hindsight, maybe she just had a dirty bottom?

If your chooks can freely free range in "Freedom Without Fear The Five Freedoms of Chickens", then why condemn them to a life on a concrete floor?

Wishing Caramel a long and prosperous, so happy that she didn't have an unhappy ending...

Hello again sorry i couldnt be on for a while as my dad was sent to hospital, and later passed away :(

so, moving on, Caramel's condition has all of a sudden picked up in the last 2 days and went up to clean their cage...
and i found a worm in her poop... :/
[smilie=a_doh.gif]
forgot, she wasn't wormed, that could've been the problem, so I will ask to get some worm medicine-Immediately
what type of worm medicine and how much are the prices?
thanks,
Philip

Deepest sympathy Philip to your and your family upon the death of your father.

Life Is A Journey

Birth is a beginning, and death a destination;
But life is a journey, a going - a growing from stage to stage.

From childhood to maturity and youth to age.
From innocence to awareness and ignorance to knowing;
From foolishness to discretion and then perhaps to wisdom.

From weakness to strength or strength to weakness
- and often, back again.
From health to sickness and back, we pray to health again.

From offense to forgiveness, from loneliness to love,
From joy to gratitude, from pain to compassion,
And grief to understanding - from fear to faith.

From defeat to defeat to defeat - until, looking backward or ahead,
We see that victory lies not at some high place along the way,
But in having made the journey,
Stage by stage - a sacred pilgrimage.

Birth is a beginning, and death a destination;
But life is a journey, a sacred pilgrimage
Made stage by stage - from birth to death to life everlasting.
