Ivomectin Question

I have coopers paramax which has active ingredient 5g/l ivermectim there is no with holding for milk on this product so I still used my eggs

Thanks Lou. If they are all the same product and same concentration I wonder why some have a withholding period and others don't?? :-?

I have no idea what brand mine is but assume it is the same concentration as all of the others so I might not worry too much about the eggs either......

As Charles mentioned earlier in this thread - maybe if I feed enough eggs to the kids it might kill head lice!!!!!!! (We've just had an outbreak here - horrible critters! :evil:

).

I haven't had to worry about head lice yet my little guy is only 10 months old, but I'm sure it will come. My pack doesn't say anything about withholding on meat only milk, so we use the eggs, we are ok & we still have neighbours & no one on the list has owned up to killing anything :shock:

The produce store told me that chookie ppl used this one. They did not recommend the brown box one 'coz of the witholding period.

That's the one discussed at http://shilala.homestead.com/ivomec.html and they say they use Eprinex due to the lack of with-holding period.

Later they say they don't eat the eggs for 6-8 weeks...kind of a just-in-case measure.

I bought a new bottle of Ivomec and dosed all my birds with about 2ml each using the syringe from the Childrens Paracetemol. It was much more accurate and easier than the "ten drops using a little eye drops type bottle" method ever was.

I used a little more on the bigger boys.

I am not sure if anyone died. Application of Ivomec closely coincided with the observation of a few bubbly/foamy eyed and/or puffy eyed 3-4 month olds, one of which later died (well...I helped...she may have lived if left to continue her recovery...or not).

2mls is a bigger dose than the 3 drops originally discussed on APF and twice the 1ml dose suggested by someone else who did the math. But, since I'm the experimental type and we'd already established that overdose is unlikely, I figured it would be ok to try. I used about 100ml.
