Thanks Petite and Chookama,
We were very surprised to find him there that day. The funniest thing was, I had been going in and out of the chook yard most of the morning, feeding, cleaning, etc and hadn't noticed him. My husband called me over and said look very carefully...

He stayed there the whole day eventually squeezing his entire body inside, so all you could see was a fluffy bottom. Poor thing must have been so hot, no wonder he vetoed that as his new house.

Here is another pic of one of the possums coming out from his usual house. During the summer they come out from under the roof to sleep on the wire mesh so they can catch the cooling breezes.

Should have added that those are slices of apple and strawberries that we treat them with occasionally.

I feed the possums here apple and pear when in season but always apple they love it

Hi Fulcoop,

We don't give them a lot of fruit, we were told that it wasn't good to feed the wildlife as they would grow to depend upon your handouts, so we only give them a bit (like three strawberries or a couple of slices of apple) from time to time as a treat. Yes, they gobble the whole lot up, they love it.

I think with the domestic living possums its too late to stop them being dependant I think most already are

Well I also have a few boxes in the trees for them too which I guess is not natural either?
